Social Media + Open Government at NASA

I used to consider myself a *relatively* balanced individual not too prone to obsessive compulsive tendencies. That was until NASA's social websites came into my life of course...

Whether it's following tweeting Astronauts and their colleagues on the ground or watching space shuttles do backflips in space live on NASA TV (yes - it really does exist!), I have found myself becoming somewhat of a space stalker.

And now NASA have even started reaching out to cling-ons like me, running their own Tweetups and appearing at others.

Here's a presentation from a recent NASA appearance at the Houston Social Media Club on Feb 4, 2010 about #NASA's successes in social media and open government.

Enjoy! But watch out - you'll get hooked too, trust me :)

A week in US, UK and Australian Open Government

Well what a week it has been in the world of Gov20 and digital engagement.

First the UK hit us with Smarter Government, followed up with a quick one two from Australia and its Gov20 Taskforce and then (never ones to be beaten) the US with the release of their Open Government Directive (complete with live and interactive online discussion between the White House leads and the rest of the world via Facebook and other such fancy dan things).

Whatever next aye? Policy documents that the average Joe can understand? Now THAT would be engaging! ;-)

Paranormal legislative activity?

Our friends over at the Sunlight Foundation thought there was something odd about a bill this Halloween. Armed with a camera for a few nights, this is what they saw. Spooky...

(oh and while we're on the subject, check out Sunlight Labs' new Augmented Reality Mashup - big fan, big potential).
