FutureGov Networks is in beta, which means we're still working on it. We want it to be useful so tell us what you think and what else you'd like to see and we'll make it happen.
We are a consultancy with a passion for making the most of information and the web to improve the public sector. We want to help government get closer to its customers so that services better meet their needs.
Not something I agree with in it's entirety, but some decent food for thought and something to prompt discussion.
My main concern is coming at change in government from a "tools first" perspective. Instead the 'back end' of government needs to act like a platform, not just the 'user interface' i.e. govt needs to start running projects and activities as a platform - inviting in social innovators, geeks/experts, citizens etc to work on offline things as well as online things to make sure that a culture of 'government as a platform' is woven through the fabric of what it does.

I'm a lousy good-for-nothing History of Art graduate, but isn't this 'platform' thing a bit old hat? Wheeled out by HBS public management gurus about a decade ago. But if you *are* channeling this 'magic carpet' idea - one which I believe in passionately btw - u might be interested in 'Deep Multi-Sided Business Models', outlined here.
